The Brady Bunch face off against a high-powered Colts offence but Pats can earn a valuable win in their quest for the AFC top spot
Just like the sun setting every day, it’s inevitable that the New England Patriots get on a roll at this time and claim one of the top seeds heading into the playoffs. They also tend to take a good few scalps along the way and none could be better than beating Andrew Luck’s Indianapolis Colts at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
Coming off a bye week and a five-win streak, the Patriots are red-hot and rested ahead of the early Monday morning game for us in the UK. The Colts haven’t been too shabby either but their defence was woefully exposed against the Pittsburgh Steelers and expect Tom Brady to come up big in another high-profile match-up. The Patriots to win are a steal at 13/10, especially with an offence that is 3rd in scoring and will torch a soft Indy centre.
The early evening game this week will see the Seattle Seahawks head to Arrowhead to take on the rising Kansas City Chiefs. Three wins on the bounce have seen the Super Bowl champions get their groove back and they need to keep winning if they have any hope of even a wildcard spot if they can’t catch the Cardinals.
The Chiefs are right in the mix in the AFC after four wins on the bounce, against an arguably weak set of teams, and will be heading into this one full of confidence. However, when your defence is ranked 20th against the run and you are facing the best rushing attack in the league, that only spells trouble. At 9/10, a Seahawks win should really be a formality.
And finally the pick of the late evening games sees the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles head to Wisconsin to take on the Green Bay Packers. At the moment, it doesn’t seem to matter who plays at quarterback for the Eagles but credit to Mark Sanchez, he put in a good performance on Monday Night and they will need to keep winning to keep the Dallas Cowboys off their tail.
Another big win for Green Bay this past week against the Chicago Bears keeps them in the hunt for the NFC North crown but will expect another home win against a potential wildcard rival. Aaron Rodgers will prove to be too much for the Eagles, who can’t rely on Sanchez to be safe with the ball against a better defence so take the Packers at 2/5. And to add a little sweetener, go for tight end Andrew Quarless to get a TD at any time, the big man is becoming a favoured redzone target for Rodgers and could be pivotal in this one.
